IACW/AIEP,is a worldwide community of crime writers devoted to the free expression and exchange of ideas among writers of all nations and languages.
Founded in Cuba in 1986 (Julian Symons and Simon Brett were early supporters), AIEP stands for the Asociación Internacional de Escritores Policiácos. The anglicised acronym IACW stands for the International Association of Crime Writers. Its American branch is the sponsor of the annual Hammett Prize for literary excellence in English-language crime writing.

AIEP/IACW is producing a series of Practical Guides to the crime fiction of many European countries. The first, on France, is part of a FREE downloadable PDF available from http://www.crimetime.co.uk/mag/index.php/magazine
